Name One!: a party game for your next movie night

Every other game on Pop Culture Games is something you play alone, on your own time. Name One! is the opposite: it only works with people in the room. One phone goes in the middle, a category lands on screen — “Name a Nintendo video game” — and each player in turn has to say an answer out loud before the timer runs out.

How a round works

You set it up once: 2 to 8 players, 30 seconds to 3 minutes per category, and the category packs you want — films and series, video games, anime, comics, music, sport, or everything at once. Then the phone is passed around and the clock never stops. The player holding it sees their name and the countdown ring; they say an answer, the group decides whether it counts, they tap Said it! and hand the phone straight on. The next player gets the same category on the same running clock, and cannot repeat anything already said.

Whoever is holding the phone when the clock hits zero loses one of their three hearts, and so does anyone who taps Pass. A new category starts with the next player. Lose all three hearts and you are out. The last player still standing wins, and Play again keeps the same people so nobody types a name twice.

Why it travels

There is no account, no download and no data to load: it is a web page you open on any phone. Turn the sound on and the last five seconds tick before a buzzer; the ring turns red and the phone buzzes when it is your turn. It is built for a table of friends, not a solo commute.

There are over a hundred and forty categories across the packs, drawn without repeating inside a game, so two rounds rarely feel the same. Pick a pack that fits the room and go.
